Flowstar History

Flowstar, also known as Dapostar has a long history around the world. Its first use originated in China, incorporated in traditional Errenzhuan performances.

Errenzhuan originated in the rural communities of Northeast China during the Qing dynasty, evolving from local folk songs, dances, and storytelling into a duet performance art combining humor, music, and satire. It became a staple of regional entertainment, known for its expressive gestures and comedic flair. Dapostar emerged in this performance by a youth-led cultural movement, created by a new generation of Chinese artists who sought to remix traditional arts like Errenzhuan which today, now incorporate hip-hop, street fashion, and pop culture. By fusing past and present, Dapostars reimagined folk performance as a bold, stylish, and subversive form of modern expression.

As FlowStars have gained popularity on social media, their presence in global markets has steadily expanded, with growing adoption particularly in the European and American regions.

FlowStars have rapidly gained traction within the rave and festival scenes, emerging as a standout performance prop that complements the vibrant, immersive, and visually expressive nature of these events.

At Trippy Squid, we want to share our appreciation to all who have played a part in the history and growth of Flowstars. While they have become a huge staple in the EDM, Rave, and Music Festival scene, we also want to share our appreciation and gratitude to the history of Dapostar and make sure we always remember its origin and roots.
